From August 26 to 28, we sent a team to walk the floor at the Shenzhen International AI Electronic Components Expo — and honestly, it was worth the trip.

Full disclosure: this expo is mainly focused on AI chips, sensors, modules, and some automotive connectors. That‘s not exactly our core territory — we make connectors, so the overlap isn‘t direct. We didn‘t pay to exhibit. But we didn‘t skip it either, because a good number of our upstream suppliers had booths there. So we went — partly to catch up with old friends, partly to get a read on where the industry is heading.
Walking in, the scale was bigger than we expected. Halls 6 through 16, packed. Domestic and international brands everywhere. And "AI-powered" was stamped on basically everything — every booth was trying to ride that wave. That said, there was real substance in there too. Major international companies were present, and you could see clear momentum in industrial control, intelligent manufacturing, AI printing, and smart terminals. The direction is unmistakable: smaller, more precise, higher reliability demands.
We sat down at a few supplier booths and caught up with some industry friends. The general read? The market is more active this year than last, especially driven by new energy and AI robotics — both of which are pulling connector demand up. That‘s good news for us.
A few takeaways from the day: First, customers are getting a lot more specific about what they need from connectors. It‘s no longer just "does it work" — they‘re asking about lifespan, temperature tolerance, IP ratings, dust and water resistance. Second, a lot of the people stopping at booths were clearly prepared — they came with actual specs to discuss. The industry is professionalizing.
We didn‘t exhibit. But the trip wasn‘t wasted. Trade shows like this — even if you‘re just walking the floor and having conversations — give you something you can‘t get from sitting in the office imagining the market.
